Requirements Engineering Processes Gathering requirements for an enterprise solution is difficult at best, with numerous project failures or overruns attributed to poor requirements. Traditional requirements elicitation techniques are not as effective in this complex environment. Business processes must be clearly understood - both the "as is" and "to be." Business processes will likely need to be reengineered to fit into the enterprise solution. End user involvement and cooperation becomes non-negotiable and sponsorship is critical. Cross-functional differences and competing priorities must be resolved. Requirements must be traceable from business and user requirements to technical requirements to test cases and defect tracking. Formal processes and tools should be considered to meet these needs. Pendére consultants help our clients build a competency in requirements engineering by identifying appropriate levels of sponsorship; targeting end users and stakeholders; establishing requirements processes and framework; developing and delivering training in requirements engineering, and providing guidance for requirements elicitation, requirements management, and change management. Our consulting expertise addresses the Requirements Management key process area (KPA) of the CMM to ensure compliance. Pendére consultants have expertise not only in implementing requirements management tools but in building a requirements framework that will support the needs of the client. We develop training that is tailored to the client environment, integrating all aspects of requirements engineering from processes to tools. Our approach enables us to develop a comprehensive requirements engineering practice for our clients.
